Drive On Diesel will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.

What is a Core Charge?

A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.

30 Day Core Charge Hold

You authorize Drive On Diesel, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

Fuel injectors are critical components in your diesel engine, responsible for delivering precise amounts of fuel into the combustion chamber. When a fuel injector goes bad, it can lead to numerous engine problems that affect performance, efficiency, and reliability. Understanding the consequences of a failing fuel injector can help you address the issue promptly and maintain your engine's health.

Symptoms of a Bad Fuel Injector

Identifying the signs of a bad fuel injector is crucial for timely intervention. Here are some common symptoms:

  • Engine Misfires
    • One of the most noticeable symptoms is engine misfires. A bad injector can disrupt the fuel-air mixture, causing the engine to misfire, especially during acceleration.
  • Rough Idling
    • A malfunctioning fuel injector can lead to rough idling, where the engine runs unevenly while at rest.
  • Loss of Power
    • If the fuel injector is not delivering fuel properly, the engine may experience a significant loss of power, making it difficult to accelerate or maintain speed.
  • Poor Fuel Economy
    • A failing fuel injector can result in inefficient fuel combustion, leading to increased fuel consumption and reduced fuel economy.
  • Check Engine Light
    •  The check engine light can illuminate for various reasons, including issues with the fuel injectors. Diagnostic trouble codes can confirm the problem.
  • Fuel Leaks
    • Visible fuel leaks around the injector area can indicate a problem. Leaks can reduce fuel pressure and affect engine performance.
  • Increased Emissions
    • A bad fuel injector can cause incomplete combustion, resulting in higher emissions and potential failure in emissions tests.
  • Unusual Noises
    • If you hear knocking or ticking sounds from the engine, it could be due to a faulty fuel injector.

Consequences of a Bad Fuel Injector

A failing fuel injector can lead to several adverse effects on your engine and vehicle performance. Here are some potential consequences:

  • Engine Damage
    • Prolonged operation with a bad fuel injector can cause significant engine damage due to improper fuel delivery and combustion.
  • Reduced Performance
    • A malfunctioning injector can lead to poor acceleration, decreased power, and overall sluggish engine performance.
  • Increased Fuel Costs
    •  Inefficient fuel delivery results in higher fuel consumption, leading to increased fuel costs over time.
  • Emission Issues
    • Higher emissions caused by a bad injector can result in failing emissions tests and potential fines or penalties in areas with strict emission regulations.
  • Starting Problems
    • Difficulty starting the engine, especially in cold weather, can be a consequence of a faulty fuel injector.

Preventing Fuel Injector Problems

Regular maintenance and attention to your fuel injectors can help prevent issues and ensure they operate efficiently. Here are some tips:

  • Use High-Quality Fuel
    • Always use high-quality diesel fuel to reduce the risk of contamination and deposits.
  • Regular Cleaning
    • Use fuel additives and get professional cleaning services to keep your injectors clean and free from deposits.
  • Timely Inspections
    • Regularly inspect your fuel injectors and related components for signs of wear, damage, or leaks.
  • Address Issues Promptly
    • If you notice any symptoms of a bad fuel injector, have your vehicle inspected and repaired by a professional immediately.

A bad fuel injector can lead to a range of engine problems, from poor performance and increased fuel costs to significant engine damage.
